Key Stages 1 & 2

Welcome

Our vibrant and warm Primary department welcomes children from age four to 11 years and provides every opportunity for them to learn and develop their social and emotional skills through PLACE.

This means we create playfulness within our classroom and activities, we provide love and care, we are accepting for children as individuals, we create a passion for curiosity and exploring, and we have empathy for all within our care and we promote this with the pupils.

While we put a great emphasis on children’s emotional wellbeing and the value of relationships, we are also aspirational in terms of pupils’ learning and progress based on individual abilities.

Small class sizes ensure our highly trained and experienced staff can give the children the time and support they need according to their learning needs and abilities. Creativity and flexibility combine with a safe and caring environment and a focus on nurturing every child to be the best they can be.

Our Primary curriculum is broad and balanced, supporting the children’s development, knowledge and skills as well as their communication and language development. We also place a big emphasis on early intervention to reduce pupils’ barriers to learning.

Primary consists of six warm and inviting classrooms, a large hall, state-of-the-art sensory room, soft play facilities, specific OT rooms including a swing space and extensive outdoor play areas and facilities linked with our OPAL approach.
